I hope that you are doing well. It's good to be back in the States! I just got back from a trip to Israel... it was amazing. Here's a picture of me near the walls of the "old city" district of Jerusalem, just to prove to you that I was there. :)
But on to the reason that I am writing this post!
There has been a change of plans due to some availability issues and scheduling conflicts: there will be no hiking trip on Saturday as planned. But do not fear - we will still be getting together this weekend.
On Sunday afternoon (July 1), starting at 1:00 (please note the time change!), come to Caleb Shewey's brother's place (13247 SE 230th St. Kent, WA) for a rousing Afternoon of Airsoft.
Please get lunch ahead of time so that you're fueled and ready to go. We will play Airsoft for a few hours, and then hang out, play board games, maybe have a fire, and enjoy pizza for dinner. Anyone who is planning on coming needs to have a Life101 Medical Release form turned in (click here to print it out). If you've filled this out during the 2011-12 school year, you're good to go!
We will end at 7:00 at the same location. Please RSVP to Caleb and me if you are planning on coming. More information (including what you need to bring with you) can be found below.
And bonus! One more opportunity for you all:
On Friday, July 6th, Cynthia Maloney and company will be headed to see the new Seattle band Impossible Bird at the Q Cafe in Interbay. Doors open at 8:30, so we'll probably meet up at around 7:15pm at the Upper Room. Come around 6:30 to have dinner at the Upper Room before we leave. Cost is $10. It will be a late night... probably back around midnight. Please RSVP to me or Cynthia!
Peace,
Eric
Airsoft details from Caleb:
Description
My name is Caleb Shewey and I am inviting all of you for free to our 4TH
Youth Group Airsoft Event. It will take place on Sunday the 1st of
July. For those of you who have come to one of the previous events, this
one will also take place at my brother Justin’s house @ 13247 SE 230th
St. Kent Washington. This is right by the Kent QFC (it has a red
painted roof), from the QFC take a right and go most of the way up the
hill until you get to 230th street. It is the third house on
the right. Please plan on getting dropped off (at 1:00pm) and picked up (at 7:00pm) at this location.
What you need
In order to participate in the event you will need a few things:
- Eye Protection (the mask type works best)
- A working spring powered air soft gun ( If you don’t have one the best places to buy them at are Wal-Mart and Big5 for around $20) also please be sure to only bring spring powered guns, as Semi-Auto guns would give an individual an advantage.
- Long sleeved clothes; you probably want dark colors of Camouflage
- WATER bottle
- Life101 Release Form
- A good attitude.
Teams
There
will be two teams Green and Black teams each with equal members. After
you email or call me telling me that you want to come I will assign you
to either the Green or Black teams according to your preference and the
numbers on the teams.
The Game Changer
For
those of you who have come to our previous events this one will be
slightly different, This time the teams will be planned out before hand
and these team will remain the same through most (not all ) of the
games. Also each member of a team is allowed to bring 1 extra item to
support them and their team, this is in addition to the allowed gear of
each individual (1 rifle type weapon and 1 side arm or 2 side arms
without the rifle). Here are some examples of items you could bring;
- A plastic, foam, rubber or Plexiglas shield to give you some added protection
- Walkie-talkies max of 2 per person to allow cross-battlefield communication
- A rubber or foam knife to use in melee combat once you have closed the distance or run out of ammo
- Nerf swords and other foam weapons to hack down opponents
- A “first aid kit” (not a real one but a fake one) allowing you to heal those shot in legs or arms during combat
- Body armor to increase the number of shots needed to take you out of the game from 1 to 2
- 1 semi automatic gun to give rapid fire this will however prohibit you from using a side arm
- A Ghillie suit to help you blend in with the forest
Rules and Games
We will play a variety of games and they will require a variety of rules. You may want to look over them closely:
1) Team Match,
in this game our two teams go head to head to be the last team
standing, 1 shot to mid or upper body eliminates a player. Arm and leg
shots will prohibit the use of the limb that was shot ( if your shot in
your left arm you may not use your left arm for the remainder of the
round). All arm and leg shots may be healed by Medics (people who
brought first aid kits). Medics can heal themselves and others an
unlimited amount of times in a round but only arm and leg shots.
2) Capture the Flag
the shooting principles remain the same however the teams goal is to
capture the opposing teams flag which that team will hide around there
base. In this game when you are shot you are not out you simply must
walk to your base and touch your flag than you may resume playing. A
maximum of 3 players may be near the flag at any given time.
3) ZOMBIES.
In Zombies the majority of players will be labeled zombies while the
remaining few are labeled survivors, these are not the same numbers as
our original two teams. Shooting remains the same 1 shot kills, however
zombies may head back to their base and regenerate an infinite amount of
times until they eliminate all of the survivors. Zombies ma at no time
ever run or job they must always walk.
4) Infection,
in this game 1 person is labeled infected when he or she eliminates
another player that player than goes to the infected persons team until
all of the players have been “Infected”. The game ends if the Infected
person is killed before they eliminate another player.
Sincerely,
Caleb Shewey
