We will be having an initial Informational Meeting Sunday, November 24th at 4:00pm in the Upper Room. Dinner will be included. This will be a good chance for students and parents to ask questions and find out a little more about the trip, look at forms, and hear what will be required of students.
First the WHY:
Before he left, Eric drew us a picture of what the future of Youth Ministries would have looked like if he had stayed; which included a 3-year rotation of CHIC (to engage, teach, and empower youth as leaders), Mending Wings (a local mission focused on real issues of justice applicable in our backyard), and an International Mission Trip (to further expand students understanding of Christ, missions, and the world).
Our Life101 Team prayerfully considered how it might look if we were to take this task on without a YAC Director and decided we were up for it! We believe that international mission will continue to grow up our students and are excited for this opportunity!
Now the WHERE:
Life101 will be going to Oaxaca, Mexico with Covenant Merge Ministries, a holistic mission branch of the ECC focused on meaningful, learning and relationship based short mission trips. Their goal is to do more for communities than paint the same graffiti-ed wall year after year, but to engage and partner with local churches and ministries to inform and shape the future of missions.
And the WHEN:
This will be a 10 day trip. We are still negotiating the best possible dates, both for our team and for Merge. Currently, it looks like June 20-30. Tahoma and Kent school districts will be done with school on June 18th, Auburn on June 19th, and Rainier Christian on June 11th.
Bring all your questions to the Informational Meeting! If you have any immediate questions, please contact the Church Office at info@cedarcreekcovenant.org for more information.
