| On our flight from Chicago to Knoxville |
After an early morning (we met at 3 AM on Saturday) and a full day of flying, we arrived in Tennessee on Saturday afternoon at around 5:30. Brendan kept us entertained at the airport in his banana suit... Which is proving to be a regular theme in these first few days! That evening we found dinner nearby in Knoxville and got situated in our apartments.
Sunday brought another early morning! We were up at 6:00am EDT to head to The Gorge for a few hours of white water rafting adventures! Although there was some trepidation at first, it seems that the whole group enjoyed themselves and emerged with only a couple injuries!
Tonight was our first main session with everyone... It was so powerful to be worshipping with 5000 other believers. We heard an moving and passionate message given by Rev. Harvey Carey and compelling worship led by Matt Lundgren and others.
The evening was led off by an incredible trio of tap dancing, spoken word (by Propaganda) and drums. Rev. Efrem Smith, our campus pastor for the week, laid down some ground rules and set the tone for the week spiritually as well.
Already, I can see that during this week, through the speakers, music, experiences, and seminars, God is going to be doing the beautiful work of softening, opening, and changing hearts. It is a joy to be here and be a part of it, and see the beginnings of that work in our lives.
Thank you for your prayers and your support... Keep them coming! Especially for good rest, patience, open minds, forgiveness, and strength.
